LAKE OOLOGAH

Oologah Lake is located approximately two miles east of Oologah on the Verdigris River in northeast Oklahoma. Recreation opportunities at Lake Oologah include a swimming beach, boating, fishing, marina, RV and tent camping, picnic tables, playground.The Oologah Public Hunting Area comprises almost 13,000 acres of easily accessible land managed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. It provides excellent hunting for quail, squirrel, rabbit, deer and waterfowl. Some 1,000 acres of the area have been designated as a migratory bird refuge. Other facilities include group shelters, restrooms, showers and concession services. An 18 mile hiking and horseback riding trail meanders through the oak and hickory forests and open meadows along the shore. More experienced riders will enjoy the rugged trails on Kite Hill, where breathtaking views reward those who reach the top. Wildlife is abundant along the trail. Camping is allowed by permit only.
